Rated 4 out of 5 by from FastFoto FF-680W I am using the scanner for family photos. One problem -- the images sometimes turn sideways or upside down, no matter which way I feed them in. This requires that I go into the folder and manually rotate dozens of photographs each time I've scanned a stack. I cannot seem to find a way to deactivate this feature. Other than that, I'm happy. The quality of the scans and the speed are both high.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Major Downgrade from FF-640 I was forced to "upgrade" from my FF-640 when scan lines became a consistent problem regardless of how much cleaning I did. I was weary to buy the FF-680 based on some early reviews of scan quality issues on this machine. I'm posting this review to confirm that indeed, the FF-680 is a flawed piece of equipment if the image quality of your scans is of importance. Specifically, the color and tonality of many scans from my FF-680 are off - the brights are too bright, the darks too dark, and it is seemingly impossible to reduce the contrast using the meager software provided by Epson (I use what they refer to as the "document" image processor, only because the "photo" image processor doesn't allow for border margins). This is especially true for black and white photos. I've called Epson to discuss and they were not helpful, or at least, there's nothing they can do at this point. The machine is flawed, the software is weak. Of course, it works well if you're not particular about your image quality - scans quickly and easily, images are decent. Beware if you are at all particular about image quality - steer clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scanner to convert family photos Very pleased with the quality of the scans and the automatic photo enhancements. Fast and easy to use. We are using it to digitize old family photos. Also used it to scan a lengthy report - loved the setting that removed the paper punch holes. Well worth the extra cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FF-680W I need this to work off of my mac laptop, not just my phone. I'm not sure it will work since I'm having to jump through hoops to figure this out! Pictures off my phone look pretty good, but I can't max my phone out that way. I need these to go to files off my computer, into an external hard drive. Help please!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fast scanning, questionable quality If you're just preserving old photos, this is a hit or miss. I went through 2 units. The first one had unacceptable vertical streakage on the image. The second one I received has significantly less streakage but it is noticeable. I'd give up on the speed if it meant the images were better preserved

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quick copy to computer I do not want my family pictures stored exclusively in the cloud or on Epson app. I want it on my hard drive too for safe keeping. The app does not allow quick transfer to computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a memory saver I'm so glad I bought this it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do save my memories

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needlessly complicated network setup that relies on WPS. I have only scanned a few photos. I watched all the same reviews you probably did and image quality is excellent. However like many others, connecting this scanner to your existing wireless network is needlessly complicated. WPS was never a great implementation for many and many routers no longer even support. We have Unifi system which does not. I wanted a WiFi connection as tethering with USB cable (USB 2... really?) was not practical due to space issues. So I went through the Epson instructions for network connection, many, many times. I used the network scanning application, pushed WiFi buttons... and the scanner just never appeared in ANY list on my iMac. So frustrating. Save yourself some time and just use your phone to setup. 1. get the phone app. I used Epson FastFoto for iPhone. I assume Android will be same. 2. Take a picture of the label on the back of the scanner so that you can have the password for the 'SSID-Direct' network 3. Follow the instructions on the app. You will need to go to your phone network settings and you will see the network being broadcast by the scanner. Enter your password. 4. Once you have connected to your scanner's broadcast SSID network, you will then see your home network. App will ask you to enter the password for your home network. 5. Once you enter that, your scanner will then connect to your home network. 6. Go to your iMac or PC and run setup again. Now you will see your scanner listed and just click on it. Follow the instructions. You are all set. I would change to 5 star once Epson addresses the network connection and eliminates WPS as a method.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Scans I was looking for a good scanner for months. It was more than I wanted to spend, but worth it to get these high quality digital copies of my old photos. It will detect if there is writing on the back of the pictures and scan that too. It lets you compare the original photos with the fixed up ones. Only thing I would change is I wish it could scan documents too.
