(Fortunately, I had purchased a full round of ink with the printer and so was able to get set up.)\r\n\r\nI burn a lot of CDs (both music and data) and chose the XP series because it has the capacity to print label information directly onto the disc. The 620 performed well at this, but it was TOTALLY USELESS as a photo printer. I was never able to get a good quality photo print -- they always had smears and ink \"glops\" on them. In addition, the color printing on paper function was marginal. The old C88+ was dead reliable, never jammed and printed very quickly. The paper feed in the XP-640 will jam if inexpensive paper is used, or the paper is not  perfectly flat. The XP-640 is also slow to prep for printing, with all sorts of whirring and movement taking place as if it it's just not going to print your job unless it's good and ready, and this is for EVERY sheet. The C88+ plus on the other hand was instant.
