Had the occasionally issue with the printer eating a page, but I usually blamed that on poor paper placement in the feeder over the printer itself.\n\nFast forward a couple years, and I got a notice about ink pads getting full and they would need to be replaced - fine, ordered a replacement maintenance box with new ink pads and installation was a matter of undoing two screws and swapping the old for the new. The replacement came with some instructions for \"reset software\" that was clearly an open invitation to all kinds of malware that I chose not to pursue. A few months later, the printer is completely unusable because the firmware thinks the maintenance box is too full, but there is NO WAY to reset that counter thanks to Epson firmware updates shutting down the ability to reset the maintenance box counter via software. I don't trust 99.9% of the Wic/Wick/Wic-Reset tools out there that charge $9.99 for a reset key and, after investigating open source alternatives that used to work but don't anymore due to said firmware updates, I'm not convinced any of these tools would even be able to actually work today.\n\nIt is an absolute shame they have designed a great, well priced, unit that can perform admirably with appropriate maintenance, and then they built in a little self destruct timer to force people to buy a new printer instead of allowing users to actually maintain their devices. I just purchased a new Epson ET 2800 to replace an older ET (I gave to my daughter for school work, it still prints perfectly). This new ET 2800, though it’s a very basic printer, does everything and then some that I need or want it to do, initial setup out of the box was so quick and easy, after I downloaded the drivers I was off to the races with printing some very colorful, intricate and detailed graphic images (my way of testing my settings and ensuring my colors were correct ad true, they were perfect). I’m a graphic designer so true color is a must, that’s not an option for me, I LOVE, LOVE all of my Epson printers, I’ve never had issues with clogged lines, ink smudging or pizza wheels across my prints, paper type selection is so important for ANY printer brand or model, it determines how much ink your printer sprays onto your paper during the printing process and your inside home temp and humidity levels will often times be the cause of clogged ink lines. I go several weeks, sometimes months, without printing anything and I’ve never, ever experienced clogged lines on any Epson printer I’ve owned, I normally keep my printers plugged in and on so they can do their auto maintenance and updates, if there are any. My last comment is about the number of negative, complaining reviews from Epson customers, this is based on my history of experience and that of MANY in my industry: I find it hard to believe that some, no actually, many of the reviews, just don’t make sense! How can you complain that your new Epson ET 2800 “doesn’t print on both sides” when the description and specs show it’s NOT a duplex printer! The complaints about your printer often disconnecting from the internet, check your wifi router specs and see if the printer’s even compatible, many of the unsatisfied customers are directly blaming Epson when often times there’s updates and revisions on your computer or digital device’s software or apps that need to be updated, monthly maintenance of your digital device(s) is YOUR responsibility and is so important for many reasons, it’ll help reduce or eliminate any stress when attempting to add a new device like a printer into your life.
