I really hope that Epson keeps making these projectors.  I am disheartened that it is discontinued. Epson sent me a new overnight with no hassle, great customer service.  i use this approx 3 to 4 hours every night to watch TV, movies and play video games.  The picture quality is great.  The projector is also very visible in the day time with the blinds open with eco mode on.  Honestly i don't ever want to go back to a regular TV ever again.  I definitely recommend this projector. The black level does not appear to be a great improvement but the auto iris does make a difference. Though the auto iris operation is noticeable the sound level is lower than the 705HD. The built-in speaker could be better but it makes no difference to me since I use a separate audio system. I've only been using the 1040 for about week so I really have not had enough opportunity to get familiar with all the menu functions.
