Which Edition of Windows Do I Have?

 

To find out if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit edition of Windows, select your OS below and follow the instructions.

 

 

Windows 10

  1. Click or tap the Start button and select Settings.

  2. Click or tap System.

  3. Click or tap About and you will see your Windows 10 edition displayed within the System type section.

Windows 8/8.1

  1. While holding the Windows key on your keyboard, press the W key.

  2. Type "edition" in the search box and press the Enter key.

  3. Your bit edition will be displayed in the System type section of the System window.

Windows RT

Bit edition does not apply to the Windows RT operating system.

Drivers will automatically install when you plug your product into the tablet's USB port or you connect the tablet to the network where your product is connected.


Windows 7 and Vista

  1. Click the Start button Start Button.
     
  2. Right-click Computer, then click Properties. 

    Note: Your Computer icon may also appear on your desktop.
     
  3. Your bit edition will be displayed in the System section of the System window.


Windows XP

  1. Click the Start button Start Button.
     
  2. Right-click My Computer, then click Properties

    Note: Your My Computer icon may also appear on your desktop.

    • If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

    • If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.
