How do I print in black/grayscale only?

  • Follow the steps below for your operating system to select Black/Grayscale or Grayscale in the printer driver.

The printer software does not have an option for Black Ink Only. To keep the print head clear and ready to print, the printer uses a small amount of ink from all the cartridges whenever it prints. Even if you select Black/Grayscale or Grayscale, some color ink is still being used.

    Windows 2000, XP, Vista
    1. Open the File menu and select Print.
    2. Click Properties or Preferences, and click the Advanced tab.
    3. Under Print Options, select Black/Grayscale and click OK.
    Macintosh 10.3.x, 10.4.x, 10.5.x
    1. Open the File menu and select Print.

With Macintosh OS X 10.5.x, click the  button to expand the Print window, if necessary.
    2. Make sure the correct printer is selected, and select Print Settings from the printer options pop-up menu.
    3. Select Grayscale for the Color setting.
