I'm having trouble sending or receiving faxes. What should I do?
Try the following:
- Print a fax connection report to diagnose the problem. Press Home if necessary, then press or and select Setup. Select Fax Settings and choose Check Fax Connection. Make sure letter- or A4-size plain paper is loaded, and press Start to print the report.
- Make sure the LINE port on the product is connected to a telephone wall jack.
- If you connected a telephone or answering machine, make sure it is connected to your product's EXT. port. If you answer the phone and hear a fax tone, and the call disconnects when you hang up, check for a secure connection to the EXT. port.
- Make sure the Auto Answer feature is turned on so your product can automatically receive faxes as necessary. Press (Auto Answer) to turn it on.
- Verify that the telephone wall jack works by connecting a phone to it. If the line has static, turn off the V.34 and ECM (Error Correction Mode) settings.
- If the product is connected to a DSL phone line, you must have a DSL filter connected to the phone jack. Contact your DSL provider for the necessary filter.
- If the product is connected to a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone line, you should be aware that fax machines are designed to work over standard analog phone lines. Epson cannot guarantee that fax transmission will work when using VoIP.
- If your phone line includes voicemail answering services, calls or faxes may be inadvertently received by your voicemail service or calls may be received by the fax. If you use a voicemail service instead of an answering machine, you should set the product to receive faxes manually. then you can check for a fax tone from the fax machine and press a button to receive the fax.
- Make sure that your recipient's fax machine is turned on and working.
- Make sure paper is loaded correctly.
