How do I print in black/grayscale only?

  • Follow the steps below for your operating system to select Black/Grayscale in the printer driver.

Note: To keep the print head clear and ready to print, the printer uses a small amount of ink from all the cartridges whenever it prints. Even if you select Black/Grayscale, some color ink is still being used.

Black/Grayscale is not recommended for printing black-and-white photos.

    Windows:
    1. Open the File menu and select Print.
    2. Click Properties or Preferences, and click the Main tab.
    3. Under Print Options, select Black/Grayscale and click OK.

Note: Black/Grayscale allows you to print in shades of gray.
    Macintosh:
    1. Open the File menu and select Print.

With Macintosh OS X 10.5.x or 10.6.x, click the  button to expand the Print window, if necessary.
    2. Make sure the correct printer is selected, and select Print Settings from the printer options pop-up menu.
    3. Select Black/Grayscale for the Color setting.

Note: Black/Grayscale allows you to print in shades of gray.
