My printout contains garbled characters when I print from Windows or my Mac. What should I do?

  • Try the following:
    • Make sure the USB cable is a shielded “AB' cable not more than 6.5 feet (2 meters) long.
    • Turn off the printer, check that the cables are securely connected, turn it back on, then try printing again.
    • If you're using a switch box or USB hub with your printer, connect the printer directly to your computer.
    • In Windows, clear any stalled print jobs from the Windows Spooler:

Windows 7: Click and select Devices and Printers. Then right-click EPSON WorkForce 1100 Series, select See what's printing, right-click the stalled print job, and click Cancel and then Yes.

Windows Vista: Click , select Control Panel, and click Printer under Hardware and Sound. Then right-click EPSON WorkForce 1100 Series, select Open, right-click the stalled print job, and click Cancel and then Yes.

Windows XP: Click Start and select Printers and Faxes. (Or open the Control Panel, select Printers and Other Hardware if necessary, and then Printers and Faxes). Then right-click EPSON WorkForce 1100 Series, select Open, right-click the stalled print job, and click Cancel and then Yes.

Windows 2000: Click Start, point to Settings, then select Printers. Then right-click EPSON WorkForce 1100 Series, select Open, right-click the stalled print job, and click Cancel and then Yes.
    • You may need to uninstall the software (Windows or Macintosh) and then reinstall it (Windows or Macintosh).
