Epson's privacy policy (”Privacy Policy”) provides information about our privacy and data collection practices as well as your rights in relation to your personal information.
This Privacy Policy applies only to Epson America, Inc. and Epson Canada, Limited ("Epson," "we," "our," or "us") websites where this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively, the "Sites"), other interactive features or downloads that are owned or controlled by Epson and made available through the Sites or that interact with the Sites and post or link to this Privacy Policy, and U.S. and Canadian offline locations and activities, unless a different privacy notice is provided at or before such offline data collection, and with respect to our products and services made available in the U.S. and Canada unless a different privacy notice is applied thereto (collectively, the “Service(s)”). In addition, some of our Services may have additional or supplemental privacy notices or policies that apply to them, which will govern in the event of a conflict with this general Privacy Policy. Please read any other privacy policies or notices that we make available with respect to various Services.

A. Introduction
Epson is committed to your privacy and this Privacy Policy provides information about (i) our privacy and data collection and use practices both online and offline; and (ii) your rights and choices in relation to your Personal Information. In this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual, or as otherwise defined under applicable law.
By using our Sites, Services, or interacting with us offline, you agree to the Epson Terms of Use United States or Terms of Use Canada (as applicable), and/or such other terms and conditions that may be applied to specific Services, which will govern in the event of a conflict with our general terms, and consent to our data collection, use and disclosure practices, and other activities, as described in this Privacy Policy and any applicable additional privacy policies or notices.
Please review this Privacy Policy carefully. We revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our business, our Services, or applicable laws. We will post any revised version of our Privacy Policy on our website with an updated revision effective date. If a revised version requires notice under applicable law, we may notify you by other means, such as directly sending you a notification, or as required by applicable law. We encourage you to periodically check our website for the latest information on our privacy practices.
Non-Applicability, Human Resources: This Privacy Policy does not apply to our current employees, former employees, interns, officers, directors, or independent contractors (collectively, the “Personnel”). Our California Personnel may obtain a copy of the separate privacy notice that applies to them by emailing the privacy compliance team: epson.privacy@ea.epson.com. Additionally, our California Personnel can follow the same instructions for making privacy rights requests as are set forth in Section P, subsections 2-6 below.
U.S. State Privacy Rights, California Residents Disclosures
If you are a resident of California or other U.S. states, we process your personal information in accordance with applicable U.S. state data privacy laws. Please see the "Your U.S. State Privacy Notice and Rights" section here (Section P.1-5, below). Additional disclosures for California residents are available here (Section P.6, below)
If you are a resident of Canada, Epson will process your personal information pursuant to applicable Canadian privacy laws, which include, without limitation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Canadian residents can contact Epson about any questions or concerns related to this Privacy Policy by sending us an email via epson.privacy@ea.epson.com or filling out Epson’s online privacy feedback form.
B. Information Collection
Information We Collect
Epson collects information about you when you use the Site, our Service, or interact with us in the U.S. or Canada offline, including information you provide to Epson when you register an account, update your profile, access our content, make a purchase, participate in a promotion, apply for a job, or contact customer support.
The following are examples of the types of Personal Information we may collect from or about you:
- Contact Data, including first and last name, email address, postal address, and phone number.
- Account Credentials, including username, password, password hints, and information for authentication and account access.
- Demographic Data, including age, gender, marital status, military and/or veteran status, disability information, salary, and country.
- Billing Data, including payment instrument number (such as a credit or debit card number), expiration date, and security code as necessary to process your payments.
- Profile Data, including interests, inferences, email marketing settings, preferences, and favorites.
- Content, including content within any messages sent to us (such as feedback and questions to customer support) or publicly posted on the Service (such as in product reviews or blog comments). We also collect content within any messages exchanged between users through the Service (such as if you use our chat functionality).
- Device Data, including data related to any device registered with us, product warranty information, and information relating to claims associated with the device.
- Information about others, including your personal contacts that you voluntarily share with us and send information to regarding products or content offered by the Service.
We may also collect your information offline and at various locations and on various forms on the Service, including, but not limited to: registration forms for newsletters and other e-mail communications, registration for membership to the Service, registration for participation in contests, sweepstakes, auctions, surveys, or other promotions that may be offered on the Service, when you submit an inquiry via the Service, when you purchase a product from the Service, when you register your product warranty information, or when you communicate or otherwise interact with us via the Service. When you apply for a job with Epson, we collect the information you provide in your job application and from your references and other sources, as further explained in the Job Applicants’ Privacy Statement Section below.

You have choices about the Personal Information you disclose to Epson, and you may elect not to submit your Personal Information. However, you may not be able to access certain of the Service's features and functionality. Similarly, where we need to collect personal information as required by law or to enter into or carry out a contract with you, and you do not provide the information, we will not be able to enter into the contract.
Information Collected Automatically
In addition, we automatically collect information when you use the Service. The following are examples of the types of information we may automatically collect via the Service:
- Service Use Data, including data about features you use, pages you visit, emails and advertisements you view, products and services you view and purchase, the time of day you browse, and your referring and exiting pages.
- Device Data, including data about the type of device or browser you use, your device’s operating software, printing patterns, ink usage, warranty status, your internet service provider, your device’s regional and language settings, and device identifiers such as model number, age, and IP address.
- Location Data, including imprecise location data (such as location derived from an IP address or data that indicates a city or postal code).
- Software Downloads, including information about your usage of products we have sold to you after you download any Epson software. Additional software-specific privacy and data information may be included with the Epson software and will be presented to you as appropriate, which will govern in the event of a conflict with this general Privacy Policy.
We use various technologies to automatically collect information when you use the Sites and certain other Services (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”), including the following:
- Log Files, which are files that record events that occur in connection with your use of the Service.
- Cookies, which are small data files stored on your device that act as a unique tag to identify your browser. We use two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies make it easier for you to navigate our Sites and expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain following a Site visit and, among other things, help with personalizing your experience, remembering your preferences, and supporting security features. Additionally, persistent cookies allow us to bring you advertising both on and off the Service. Persistent cookies may remain on your device for extended periods of time and generally may be controlled through your browser settings. - Pixels (also known as web beacons or clear gifs), which are code embedded in a website, video, email, or advertisement that sends information about your use of the Service to a server. When you access a website, video, email, or advertisement that contains a pixel, the pixel may permit us, or a separate entity, to drop or read cookies on your browser. Pixels are used in combination with cookies to track activity by a particular browser on a particular device. We may incorporate pixels from separate entities that allow us to track our conversions, bring you advertising both on and off the Service, and provide you with additional functionality, such as the ability to connect our Service with your social media account.
- Location-Identifying Technologies, which are technologies used to collect your imprecise location. Location data may be used, as appropriate, for purposes such as verifying your device’s location and delivering or restricting relevant content and advertising based on that location.
Epson uses these technologies to give you the best experience when you visit our Sites, to analyze traffic, and to personalize content. We may share information about your use of our Sites with our social media, advertising and analytics partners. For further information on how we use tracking technologies for analytics and advertising, and your rights and choices regarding them, see the “Tracking Technology and Your Choices” and “Your U.S. State Privacy Notice and Rights” sections below.
Information Collected From Other Sources
We may also collect information about you from other sources. The following categories are examples of the types of sources we collect Personal Information from:
- Data brokers or resellers from which we purchase data to supplement the data we collect.
- Social networks such as when you engage with our content, reference our Service, or grant us permission to access information from the social networks.
- Marketing Partners that offer co-branded services, sell or distribute our products, or engage in joint marketing activities.
- Publicly-available sources, including data in the publicly available.
We are not responsible nor liable for the accuracy of the information provided to us by Third Parties or for third-party policies or practices.
C. Use of Information
We use the Personal Information and other data we collect for our business and commercial purposes. In particular, we use Personal Information to:
- Operate and manage our Service, including your registration and account.
- Provide products and perform services requested by you, such as responding to your comments, questions, and requests, and provide customer service.
- Communicate with you, including by sending you technical notices, updates, security alerts, information regarding changes to our policies, and support and administrative messages.
- Help you to track your ink usage and printing patterns.
- Prevent and address fraud, breach of policies or terms, and threats or harm.
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities.
- Conduct research, including focus groups, surveys, analytics, and other forms of market research.
- Improve the Service, apps, marketing efforts, products, and services.
- Develop and send you direct marketing, including advertisements and communications about our and other entities’ products, offers, promotions, rewards, events, and services.
- Conduct product promotions, including verifying your eligibility and delivering prizes in connection with your entries.
- Send you advertising based on your interests as reflected in your browsing of the Sites and use of the Service, and certain third-party sites participating in the same advertising networks and exchanges, to understand how you use our mobile apps, and to better understand your needs.
- Manage a job application when you apply for a job with Epson.
- Fulfill any other business or commercial purposes not inconsistent with this Privacy Policy or other notice prior to or at collection, or otherwise at your direction or with your notice and/or consent.
- Comply with the law, such as to satisfy tax or legal reporting obligations, to exercise or enforce our rights and to protect Epson and others.
Please note that we may use information that does not identify the data subject (including information that has been anonymized, aggregated or de-identified) for any purpose except as prohibited by applicable law. For information on your rights and choices regarding how we use information about you, please see the “Your U.S. State Privacy Notice and Rights” section below. Residents of certain U.S. states have additional rights explained here.
D. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose Personal Information and other data we collect with Third Parties as described in this Privacy Policy. Examples of the types of entities to which we may disclose Personal Information include the following:
- Service Providers. We may disclose information with entities that process information on our behalf (“Service Providers”). Service Providers assist us with services such as payment processing, data analytics, marketing, advertising, website hosting, and technical support.
- Vendors and Other Parties. We may disclose information with vendors, including analytics and advertising technology companies, that may act as our service providers, or in certain contexts, independently decide how to process your information. For more information on advertising and analytics, see the “Tracking Technology and Your Choices” section below.
- Affiliates. We may disclose information with our related entities including our parent and sister companies (collectively, our “Affiliates”) for commercial and business purposes such as customer support, marketing, technical operations, and, subject to applicable law, other legitimate and/or compatible purposes. Our Affiliates may be located in a country other than your country and where privacy laws may be different from the laws of your country. We communicate our privacy and security requirements to our Affiliates and require their compliance with such requirements. In addition, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, when you provide your Personal Information to us, you consent to the transfer, storage and processing of your Personal Information to our Affiliates for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Customers. We may disclose information with our business customers in connection with us processing information on their behalf, subject to our obligations to them and under applicable law. For example, we disclose information with our business customers in order to facilitate your orders, maintain and administer your online accounts, respond to your questions and comments, comply with your requests, market and advertise to you, and otherwise comply with applicable law. This may be in the context of acting as their service provider and we are not responsible for their data collection, practices or policies.
- Co-Promotional Partners. We may disclose information with our partners in connection with offering co-branded services, selling, or distributing our products, or engaging in joint marketing activities. For example, we may disclose information to our retail partners for the purpose of providing you with requested product support.
- Promotions. When you voluntarily enter a sweepstakes, contest, or other promotion, we may disclose information as set out in the official rules that govern the promotion as well as for administrative purposes and as required by law (e.g., on a winners list), subject to any additional notices presented at the time you enter into the promotion.
- Public Forums. We may disclose information you make public through the Service, such as information you voluntarily disclose in your profile or that you choose to post on public boards, such as when you write a comment on our Sites. Please think carefully before making information public as you are solely responsible for any information you make public. Once you have posted information on a public board, you may not be able to edit or delete such information, subject to additional rights set out in the U.S. State Privacy Notice below.
- Merger or Acquisition. We may disclose information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any proposed or actual merger, purchase, sale or any other type of acquisition or business combination of all or any portion of our assets, or transfer of all or a portion of our business to another business, or a financing or other corporate transaction.
- Security and Compelled Disclosure. We may disclose information to comply with the law or other legal processes, and where required, in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. We also disclose information to protect the rights, property, life, health, security, and safety of us, the Service or anyone else.
- Facilitating Requests. We may disclose information at your request or direction, such as when you choose to disclose information with a social network about your activities on the Service.
- Consent. We may disclose information about you with notice to you and your consent.
- Compatible Purposes. To other parties for legitimate and/or compatible purposes not inconsistent with this Privacy Policy or applicable law, including to exercise or enforce our rights.
We may disclose de-identified, anonymized, or aggregated information internally and to Third Parties for any purpose, to the extent not prohibited by law. We will use proper care so the information will not identify you individually and otherwise comply with our obligations under applicable law, but we do not make assurances that such information is not capable of re-identification. However, we will not attempt to re-identify any information that we identify as de-identified information.
E. Social Media and Technology Integration
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or mobile apps, or other services, that are not operated or controlled by Epson, including plugins from social media platforms and other Third Parties (“Third-Part Services”). Some examples of links to a third-party website include those websites operated by our vendors, Service Providers, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other Third Parties. Examples of social media plugins are the Facebook “Like” button and the option to “share” the website through your email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube (“Social Features”). The inclusion of these Social Features on the Service does not imply any endorsement of the activities or content of the related websites, apps, or social media platforms, nor any association with their operators. To learn about the information collected by the Third-Party Services, including what information they collect from you, information they may disclose to us, your rights and choices on their services, and whether they store information in the U.S. or elsewhere, please carefully review their respective privacy policies. Some examples include:
- Links. Our Service may include links to websites, platforms, and other services not operated or controlled by us. We may disclose or receive your Personal Information when you interact with such websites, platforms, and other services.
- Liking, Sharing, and Logging In. We may embed a pixel or SDK (Software Development Kit) on our Service that allows you to “like” or “share” content on, or log in to your account through social media. If you choose to engage with such integration, we may receive information from the social network that you have authorized to disclose to us. Please note that the social network may also independently collect information about you through the integration.
Please note that when you interact with other entities, including when you leave our Service or interact with third-party integrations with our Service, those entities may independently collect information about you and solicit information from you. The information collected and stored by those entities remains subject to their own policies and practices, including what information they disclose to us, your rights and choices on their services and devices, and whether they store information in the U.S. or elsewhere. We are not responsible for other entities’ data and other practices and encourage you to familiarize yourself with and consult their privacy policies and terms of use.
The Service utilizes the YouTube API to display videos and other information relevant to Epson's products and services for marketing purposes, and you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and API Services Terms of Service when engaging YouTube content and services through the Service.
F. Network Advertising and Retargeting
Epson participates in online advertising networks and exchanges that display relevant advertisements to site visitors, including based on their interests as reflected in their browsing of the Sites and certain third-party sites and other data, including but not limited to networks and exchanges operated by Yahoo, Microsoft/Bing, Facebook/Meta, and Google. These companies may use Tracking Technologies to passively collect information from you which may be used to tailor the advertising you see on the Sites or elsewhere on the web. This means that some information about your browsing of the Service and certain third-party sites may be disclosed to these companies for the purpose of delivering ads to you on the Service and certain third-party sites, and Epson may receive from some of these companies information about third-party sites that you have visited. This information is used for marketing purposes and the practice is sometimes termed “interest-based advertising” or "retargeting."

G. Your Communication Preferences, Rights and Choices
Account Information
You may access, update, or remove certain information that you have provided to us through your account by visiting your account settings. Please note that we will retain and use information about you as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements and for other business purposes such as record keeping.
Communications
Epson provides several means for you to opt out of receiving commercial e-mails from Epson. If you do not wish to receive e-mail notices promoting our products or services, you may opt out at the time you provide your Personal Information to us. You may also opt out through any commercial e-mail you receive from Epson by selecting the "unsubscribe" or similar option included with each e-mail. To opt out of direct mailings, we will provide you with a postage paid opt-out card with any promotional offers we mail to you. Please note that your opt-out is limited to the email address used and will not affect subsequent subscriptions or non-promotional e-mails (e.g., safety notices, responses to your inquiries, etc.).
Tracking Technology and Your Choices
As explained in this Privacy Policy, Epson uses Tracking Technologies to gather information when you interact with us via our Sites, our mobile apps, and email communications. Some Tracking Technologies are necessary to help us maintain the security of our Sites and your Epson account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic Site functions. To the extent the use of these Tracking Technologies is deemed to be a “sale” / “sharing” under applicable U.S. state laws, you may opt-out of these Tracking Technologies via our Cookie Settings or by contacting Epson.
- Tracking Technologies. Some browsers and devices accept Tracking Technologies by default. Certain Tracking Technologies may generally be disabled or removed by tools available as part of most commercial browsers, and in some instances blocked in the future by selecting certain settings. Browsers offer different functionalities and options, so you may need to set them separately on each browser and device you use. Please be aware that if you disable or remove these technologies, some parts of the Service may not work and that when you revisit the Service your ability to limit browser-based Tracking Technologies is subject to your browser settings and limitations. In addition, you can exercise cookie preferences by visiting our Consent Manager. Residents of certain U.S. states have further rights explained here.
- Do Not Track. Your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” signal to online services you visit. Note, however, there is no industry consensus as to what site and app operators should do with regard to these signals. Accordingly, unless and until the law is interpreted to require us to do so, we do not monitor or take action with respect to “Do Not Track” signals. For more information on “Do Not Track,” visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.
- App and Location Technologies. You can stop all collection of information via an app by uninstalling the app. You can also reset your device Ad Id at any time through your device settings, which is designed to allow you to limit the use of information collected about you.
Please be aware that if you disable or remove Tracking Technologies some parts of the Service may not function correctly.
We may also use Microsoft Advertising Services and/or Google Ad Services. Google provides tools to allow you to opt out of the use of certain information collected by Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and by Google Analytics for Display Advertising or the Google Display Network at https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/. In addition, most of the companies we work with to provide you with targeted ads are participants of the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) and/or the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”). To learn more about the targeted ads provided by these companies, and how to opt out of receiving certain targeted ads from them, please visit:
- For website targeted ads from DAA participants, https://www.aboutads.info/choices;
- For app targeted ads from DAA participants, https://www.aboutads.info/appchoices;
- For targeted ads from NAI participants, https://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/. Opting out only means that the selected participants should no longer deliver certain targeted ads to you but does not mean you will no longer receive any targeted content and/or ads (e.g., in connection with the participants’ other customers or from other technology services).
You may also limit our use of information collected from or about your mobile device for purposes of serving targeted ads to you by going to your device settings and selecting “Limit Ad Tracking” (for iOS devices) or “Opt-out of Interest-Based Ads” (for Android devices).
In addition, we may serve ads on other online services that are targeted to reach people on those services that are also identified on one or more of our databases (“Matched List Ads”). This is done by using Tracking Technologies or by matching common factors between our databases and the databases of the other online services. For instance, we may use such ad services offered by Facebook/Instagram/Meta or X (formerly,Twitter) and other Third-Party Services. We are not responsible for these Third-Party Services, including without limitation the security of the data. If we use Facebook to serve Matched List Ads on Facebook services, you should be able to hover over the box in the right corner of such a Facebook ad, or go to your account settings, and find out what options Facebook offers you to control such ads. If we use X Matched List Ads, you should be able to review your ad options in account settings on X. We are not responsible for such Third Parties’ failure to comply with your or our opt-out instructions. They may not give us notice of opt-outs that you give directly to them related to our ads; and they may change their options without notice to us or you.
Please note that if you opt out using any of these methods, the opt out will only apply to the specific browser or device from which you opt out, so you will need to opt-out on each browser and device you use. Also, if you clear or block cookies you may lose you opt-out settings. We are not responsible for the effectiveness of, or compliance with, any opt-out options or programs, or the accuracy of any other entities’ statements regarding their opt out options or programs.
H. Sweepstakes, Contests and Promotions
Epson may offer sweepstakes, contests, and other promotions (collectively, a "Promotion") through the Service that may require registration. By participating in a Promotion, you are agreeing to the terms, conditions or official rules that govern that Promotion, which may contain specific requirements of you, including, except where prohibited by law, allowing the sponsor(s) of the Promotion to use your name, voice and/or likeness in advertising or marketing associated with the Promotion. If you choose to enter a Promotion, your Personal Information may be disclosed to Third Parties or the public in connection with the administration of such Promotion, including, without limitation, in connection with winner selection, prize fulfillment, and as required by law or permitted by the Promotion's official rules, such as on a winners list.
I. Children's Privacy Protection
Epson is aware of the heightened need to protect the privacy of children under the age of 13. The Service is not intended for children and is not targeted to children under the age of 13. Epson does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children (as defined by the U.S. Children’s Privacy Protection Act, or “COPPA”). If you are a parent or guardian and you believe we have collected Personal Information from your child in a manner not permitted by law, contact us at epson.privacy@ea.epson.com. We will delete the Personal Information to the extent required by applicable laws. We do not knowingly “sell,” as that term is defined under the CCPA, the Personal Information of minors under 16 years old who are California residents.
If you are a California resident under 18 years old and registered to use the Service, you can ask us to remove any content or information you have posted on the Service. To make a request, email us at contentremoval@ea.epson.com with “California Under 18 Content Removal Request” in the subject line, and tell us what you want removed. We will make reasonable, good faith efforts to remove the post from prospective public view, although we cannot ensure the complete or comprehensive removal of the content and may retain the content as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
J. The Epson Store
The Epson Store is a section of our Site that allows you to purchase Epson products online. The Epson Store is designed to give you options concerning the privacy of your information. If you choose, you can create an account with Epson, where you will provide certain Personal Information. To protect your privacy, we have designed the Epson Store to include certain steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make changes to your account. After logging into your account, you will have access to your account information and the ability to view, update, or change it at any time. To access your information, you will need to create and use a password. When purchasing products from the Epson Store, the order form will also ask you to provide a daytime telephone number. Additional information, such as a phone number, will be requested so we can quickly resolve questions related to an order, such as to clarify customer orders or to notify a customer of backorder status. We and our credit card processors take steps to protect the security of your credit card information, including using tokenization.
K. Data Security
Epson takes commercially reasonable steps to help protect and secure Personal Information. However, no data transmission over the internet, wireless transmission or electronic storage of information can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Please note that we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information we collect, and you use our Service and provide us with your information at your own risk.
L. Disability Accommodations

M. Data Relating to Data Subjects in the United Kingdom / European Union / European Economic Area / Switzerland
This Privacy Policy is intended to apply to the collection and processing of Personal Information from customers and individuals in the United States and Canada only. The Epson America, Inc. Service is located and operated in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States and are accessing the Epson America, Inc. Service, please be aware that information we collect, including Personal Information, will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States and, as such, courts and other authorities in the United States may, in certain circumstances, be entitled to access your Personal Information. By using the Epson America, Inc. Service or providing us with any information through the Epson America, Inc. Service, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer, processing, and storage of your information in the United States per the provisions of this Privacy Policy.
The Epson Canada, Limited Service is operated in Canada. Please be aware that if you are accessing the Epson Canada, Limited Service the information we collect, including Personal Information, will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States, Canada, or Japan. As noted above, the Service is not intended for customers or individuals outside of the United States or Canada. N. Changes to this Policy
Epson may from time to time and without prior notice revise this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be effective immediately when the revised policy is posted on the Service. If a revised version requires notice under applicable law, we may notify you by other means, such as directly sending you a notification, or as required by applicable law. We encourage you to periodically check our website for the latest information on our privacy practices. We will not, however, use your Personal Information in a manner materially different than what was stated in the Privacy Policy posted on the Service at the time your Personal Information was collected unless we receive your consent.
O. Job Applicants’ Privacy Statement
When you apply for employment with Epson, we process your Personal Information (“PI”) as explained in this section. We will refer to job applicants as “Candidates.” Epson relies on lawful grounds to collect, use, and process Candidates’ PI. These lawful grounds include (to the extent permitted by applicable laws) (i) our legitimate business purposes and interests, (ii) your consent, (iii) compliance with applicable laws, (iv) the exercise of our legal rights and obligations in connection with your potential employment, and (v) other lawful grounds provided by applicable laws and regulations. Nothing in this section is intended to reduce or take away any rights or protections Candidates may have under applicable privacy laws. If anything in this section is inconsistent with any such laws, the relevant legal right or protection shall prevail.
Personal Information we collect
When you apply for a position at Epson, you provide us with your PI, such as your name, address, phone number, email etc. When you apply directly on our website, we may gather information through the use of cookies and other tracking technologies. You can find details about these technologies in the “Information Collected Automatically” paragraph of Section B above. We may also collect your PI from other sources, such as publicly available information (i.e., information available on social media platforms, such as LinkedIn), from recruitment agencies, credit reference agencies, other background check agencies, and your current and former employers. If you are unable to access and use PI about you, we may not be able to process your application or engage with you as a Candidate.
How we use Candidates’ Personal Information
We may access, use, and store your PI as necessary to carry on our legitimate business purposes, such as to assess your job application, so we can determine your qualifications and eligibility for a position with Epson. We may also use your PI to communicate with you about the status of your job application. If your job application is successful and you accept a position at Epson, we may use the PI you provided in your job application to, for example and as appropriate, process background checks. Where required by law, we may ask you for your written consent to allow us to process certain PI, including any sensitive PI, and only those Epson personnel with a need to know will have access to such information.
How long we keep your Personal Information and how we secure it
We will process your information for the duration of your time as a Candidate and as we process your job application. Whether you are offered a job with Epson or not, we will retain your information afterwards as permitted by law and only as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, HR, regulatory, tax, accounting, or reporting requirements, or as otherwise agreed by you upon your consent. Epson protects the security and confidentiality of your PI by implementing necessary controls according to the sensitivity of the PI being processed as part of your job application. Such controls include encryption, access restrictions, and other technical and organizational measures to protect your PI. Only those Epson personnel with a need to know will have access to your PI as necessary to manage your job application.
CCPA Notice and Disclosures
Candidates who are California residents have specific rights under the CCPA and this section applies to you and supplements the information in our Privacy Policy. Below, we provide notice of your rights and a summary of the categories of PI we collect about you when you apply for work with Epson, as applicable and as such categories are stated in the CCPA. California Candidates have a right to (i) know what PI is collected about them, (ii) know if their PI is sold or shared and to whom, (iii) request access, correction, and deletion of their PI, (iv) opt out of the sale of their PI, and (v) not be discriminated against for exercising their CCPA rights. Epson does not sell the PI of California Candidates and does not share such information for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising. Epson does not discriminate against individuals for exercising their privacy rights. Candidates’ PI Collection Purpose

How we share your Personal Information
Epson may share Candidate’s PI for legitimate business purposes. We may share your PI within Epson and our affiliates as we evaluate your job application. In some cases, we may share your PI with our service providers, and to comply with legal obligations. For example, we may share PI with an Epson-affiliated company for purposes of recruiting and evaluating Candidates. We may also share your PI with our service providers engaged by us to perform services related to the processing of your job application, such as background check service providers, health and safety experts, benefits providers and government agencies (i.e. for equal opportunity reporting). The service providers we share your PI with are contractually required to safeguard the information they receive. Additionally, we may share your PI as necessary to respond to a legal request, such as subpoena or court order.

P. Your U.S. State Privacy Notice and Rights
This U.S. State Privacy Notice (“Notice”) applies to “Consumers” as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”), and other U.S. state privacy laws, and all implementing, supplementing, or amending the foregoing, including regulations promulgated thereunder (collectively, “U.S. Privacy Laws”).
This Notice is designed to meet our obligations under U.S. Privacy Laws, including our “notice at collection” obligation under the CCPA, and supplements the general privacy policies of Epson America, Inc. (“Epson,” “our,” “us,” or “we”). In the event of a conflict between any other Epson policy, notice, or statement and this Notice, this Notice will prevail as to Consumers unless stated otherwise.

- Section 1 of this Notice provides notice of our data practices, including our collection, use, disclosure, and sale of Consumers’ Personal Information as defined by the U.S. Privacy Laws (collectively, “PI”).

For California residents the term “Consumer” is not limited to data subjects acting as individuals regarding household goods and services and includes data subjects in a business-to-business context. This is not the case in the other states. Capitalized terms not defined in this Notice have the definition provided by applicable U.S. Privacy Laws.
Limited Applicability, Human Resources: Section 1 of this Notice does not apply to job applicants, current employees, former employees, or independent contractors (“Personnel”). Our California Personnel may obtain a separate privacy notice that applies to them by contacting our human resources department at epson.privacy@ea.epson.com. However, the details on how to exercise Consumer rights in Sections 2-6 of this Notice apply to our California Personnel.
1. Notice of Data Practices
The description of our data practices in this Notice covers the twelve (12) months prior to the Effective Date and will be updated at least annually. Our data practices may differ between updates, however. If materially different from this Notice, we will provide supplemental pre-collection notice of the current practices, which may include references to other privacy policies, notices, or statements. Otherwise, this Notice serves as our notice at collection.
We may collect your PI directly from you (e.g., when you use the Sites, our Service, interact with us online, or register an account), your devices, our Affiliates, service providers, data brokers or resellers, social networks, marketing partners, public sources of data, or other businesses or individuals.
Generally, we process your PI to provide you services and as otherwise related to the operation of our business, including for one or more of the following Business Purposes: Performing Services, Managing Interactions and Transactions, Security, Debugging, Advertising & Marketing, Quality Assurance, Processing Interactions and Transactions, and Research and Development. We may also use PI for other Business Purposes in a context that is not a sale or Share under U.S. Privacy Laws, such as disclosing it to our Service Providers, Contractors, or Processors that perform services for us (“Vendors”), to the Consumer or to other parties at the Consumer’s direction or through the Consumer’s action, for the additional purposes explained at the time of collection (such as in the applicable privacy policy or notice), as required or permitted by applicable law; to the government or private parties to comply with law or legal process or protect or enforce legal rights or obligations or prevent harm, and to assignees as part of an acquisition, merger, asset sale, or other transaction where another party assumes control over all or part of our business (“Corporate Transaction”) (“Additional Business Purposes”). We may also use and disclose your PI under this Notice for Commercial Purposes, which may be considered a “sale” or “share” under applicable U.S. Privacy Laws, such as when Third-Party Digital Businesses (defined below) collect your PI via third-party cookies, and when we Process PI for certain advertising purposes. In addition, we may make your PI available to Third Parties for their own use.

2. Your Consumer Rights and How to Exercise Them
As described more below, subject to meeting the requirements for a Verifiable Consumer Request (defined below), Epson provides Consumers the privacy rights described in this section. For residents of states without Consumer privacy rights, we will consider requests but will apply our discretion with respect to how we process such requests. We will also consider applying state law rights prior to the effective date of such laws but will do so at our discretion.
To submit a request to exercise your Consumer privacy rights, or to submit a request as an authorized agent, use our Consumer Rights Request Portal, or call us at 1-800-822-0313, and respond to any follow-up inquiries we make. Please be aware that we do not accept or process requests through other means (e.g., via fax, chats, social media etc.). More details on the request and verification process are in subsection g below. The Consumer rights we accommodate, subject to your state law, are as follows:
a. Right to Limit Sensitive PI Processing
For PI that qualifies as Sensitive PI under U.S. Privacy Laws, as of January 1, 2023, if you elect to provide us with that Sensitive PI you will have consented to such Processing. Epson uses Sensitive PI as authorized by applicable privacy laws or with your consent. Epson does not use Sensitive PI in a manner that would require Epson to provide consumers the right to limit its use. Should our practices change, we will provide you with notice of such change.
b. Right to Know/Access
Depending on your state of residency, you may have the right to know and access the PI we collect from you, including what PI we disclose. These rights may, however, be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.

California residents have a right to submit a request for any of the following for the period that is 12 months prior to the request date:
- The categories of PI we have collected about you.
- The categories of sources from which we collected your PI.
- The Business Purposes or Commercial Purposes for our collecting, selling, or sharing of your PI.
- The categories of Third Parties to whom we have disclosed your PI.
- A list of the categories of PI disclosed for a Business Purpose and, for each, the categories of recipients, or that no disclosure occurred.
- A list of the categories of PI sold or shared about you and, for each, the categories of recipients, or that no sale or share occurred.
2. Specific Pieces
You may request to confirm if we are processing your PI and, if we are, to obtain a transportable copy, subject to applicable request limits, of your PI that we have collected and are maintaining. For your specific pieces of PI, as required by applicable U.S. Privacy Laws, we will apply the heightened verification standards as described below. We have no obligation to re-identify information or to keep PI longer than we need it or are required to by applicable law to comply with access requests.
c. Do Not Sell / Share / Target
Under the various U.S. Privacy Laws there are broad and differing concepts of “selling” PI for which an opt-out is required. California also has an opt-out from “sharing” for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising which is the use of PI from different businesses or services to target advertisements. Other states have an opt-out of “Targeted Advertising,” which may be defined differently, but also addresses tracking, profiling, and targeting of advertisements. We may sell or share your PI and/or use your PI for Targeted Advertising, as these terms apply under U.S. Privacy Laws. However, we provide U.S. Consumers, and in some cases their authorized agents, an opt-out of sale/sharing/targeting that is intended to combine all of these state opt-outs into a single opt-out available regardless of the state of residency. Third-Party digital businesses (“Third-Party Digital Businesses”) may associate cookies and other tracking technologies that collect PI about you on our services, or otherwise collect and process PI that we make available about you, including digital activity information. We understand that giving access to PI on our Services, or otherwise, to Third-Party Digital Businesses could be deemed a sale and/or share under some state laws and thus we will treat such PI (e.g., cookie ID, IP address, and other online identifiers, and internet or other electronic activity information) collected by Third-Party Digital Businesses, where not limited to acting as our Service Provider (or Contractor or Processor), as a sale and/or share and subject to a Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out request. We will not sell your PI, share your PI for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising, or process your PI for Targeted Advertising if you make a Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out request.
Opt-out for non-cookie PI: If you want to opt-out of the processing of your non-cookie PI (e.g., your email address), submit your opt-out request here.
Opt-out for cookie PI: If you want to limit our processing of your cookie-related PI for Targeted Advertising, or opt-out of the sale/sharing of such PI, you need to exercise a separate opt-out request on our cookie “consent manager” tool here. This is because we have to use different technologies to apply your opt-out of cookie PI and to non-cookie PI. Our consent manager enables you to exercise such an opt-out request and enable certain cookie preferences on your device. You must exercise your preferences on each of our websites you visit, from each browser you use, and on each device that you use. Since your browser opt-out is designated by a cookie, if you clear or block cookies, your preferences will no longer be effective, and you will need to enable them again via our consent manager. Note that if you use ad-blocking software, our consent manager may not appear when you visit our Services, and you may have to use the link above to access the tool.
Opt-out preference signals (also known as global privacy control or “GPC”): Some of the U.S. Privacy Laws require businesses to process GPC signals, which are referred to in California as opt-out preference signals (“OOPS”), which are signals sent by a platform, technology, or mechanism, enabled by individuals on their devices or browsers, that communicate the individual’s choice to opt-out of the selling and sharing of Personal Information. To use an OOPS/GPC, you can download an internet browser or a plugin to use on your current internet browser and follow the settings to enable the OOPS/GPC, as available at https://globalprivacycontrol.org/orgs?icid2=globalprivacycontrol. We have configured the settings on our consent manager to receive and process GPC signals on our Sites for visitors with IP Addresses indicating they are from a state where this is required. We process OOPS/GPC with respect to selling and sharing that may occur in the context of collection of cookie PI by tracking technologies online by Third-Party Digital Businesses, discussed above, and apply it to the specific browser on which you enable OOPS/GPC. We do not: (1) charge a fee for use of our Service if you have enabled OOPS/GPC, (2) change your experience with any product or service if you use OOPS/GPC, or (3) display a notification, pop-up, text, graphic, animation, sound, video, or any interstitial in response to the OOPS/GPC.
We do not knowingly sell or share the PI of Consumers under 16, unless we receive affirmative authorization (“opt-in”) from either the Consumer who is between 13 and 16 years old, or the parent or guardian of a Consumer who is less than 13 years old. If you think we may have unknowingly collected PI of a Consumer under 16 years old, please Contact Us.
We may disclose your PI for the following purposes, which are not a sale or share: (i) if you direct us to disclose PI, (ii) to comply with a Consumer rights request you submit to us, (iii) disclosures amongst the entities that constitute Epson as defined above, or as part of a Corporate Transaction, and (iv) as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.
d. Right to Delete
Except to the extent we have a basis for retention under applicable law, you may request that we delete your PI. Our retention rights include, without limitation:
- to complete transactions and services you have requested
- for security purposes
- for legitimate internal Business Purposes (e.g., maintaining business records)
- to comply with law and to cooperate with law enforcement
- to exercise or defend legal claims
Please also be aware that making a deletion request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal or deletion of PI or content you may have posted.
Also note that, depending on where you reside (e.g., California and Utah), we may not be required to delete your PI that we did not collect directly from you.
e. Right to Correction and Portability
Consumers may bring inaccuracies they find in their PI that we maintain to our attention, and we will act upon such a request as required by applicable law. You can also make changes to your online account in the account settings section. That will not, however, change your information that exists in other places. Residents of certain U.S. states have the right to receive a portable copy of their personal information.
f. Automated Decision Making/Profiling and Limit Processing of Sensitive PI
We do not engage in Automated Decision Making or Profiling or Process Sensitive PI in a manner that is subject to a limitation request.
g. How to Exercise Your Consumer Privacy Rights
To submit a request to exercise your Consumer privacy rights, or to submit a request as an authorized agent, use our Consumer Rights Request Portal, or call us at 1-800-822-0313, and respond to any follow-up inquiries we make. Please be aware that we do not accept or process requests through other means (e.g., via fax, chats, social media etc.).
1. Your Request Must be a Verifiable Consumer Request
Any data subject right request you submit to us must be a Verifiable Consumer Request, as defined by applicable U.S. Privacy Laws. Consequently, when you make a request, we may ask you to provide verifying information, such as your name, e-mail address, phone number, address, date of birth, and/or last four digits of SSN, as permitted or required under applicable U.S. Privacy Laws, so we can execute your request. We will review the information provided and may request additional information (e.g., transaction history) via e-mail or other means to ensure we are interacting with the correct individual. To protect our customers' personal information, we will not fulfill your Right to Know (Categories), Right to Know (Specific Pieces), Right to Delete, or Right to Correction request unless you have provided sufficient information for us to reasonably verify you are the Consumer about whom we collected PI. We do not verify opt-outs of Sell/Share/Target requests unless we suspect fraud.
We verify each request as follows:
- Right to Know (Categories) (available for California residents only): If you do not have a password-protected account, we verify your Request to Know Categories of PI to a reasonable degree of certainty, which may include matching at least two data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, which we have determined to be reliable for the purpose of verifying you. If we cannot do so, we will refer you to this Notice for a general description of our data practices.
- Right to Know (Specific Pieces): If you do not have a password-protected account, we verify your Request to Know Specific Pieces of PI to a reasonably high degree of certainty, which may include matching at least three data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, which we have determined to be reliable for the purpose of verifying you. If you fail to provide requested information, we will be unable to verify you sufficiently to honor your request, but we will then treat it as a Right to Know Categories Request if you are a California resident.
- Do Not Sell/Share/Target: No specific verification required unless we suspect fraud.
- Right to Delete: If you do not have a password-protected account, we verify your Request to Delete to a reasonable degree of certainty, which may include matching at least two data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, or to a reasonably high degree of certainty, which may include matching at least three data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, depending on the sensitivity of the PI and the risk of harm to the Consumer posed by unauthorized deletion.
- Right to Correct: If you do not have a password-protected account, we verify your Request to Correct PI to a reasonable degree of certainty, which may include matching at least two data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, or to a reasonably high degree of certainty, which may include matching at least three data points provided by you with data points maintained by us, depending on the sensitivity of the PI and the risk of harm to the Consumer posed by unauthorized correction.
To protect Consumers, if we are unable to verify you sufficiently, we will be unable to honor your request. We will use PI provided in a Verifiable Consumer Request only to verify your identity or authority to make the request and to track and document request responses unless you also gave it to us for another purpose.
2. Authorized Agent Requests
You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you, subject to our verification of the agent, the agent’s authority to submit requests on your behalf, and of your identity directly from you. You can learn how to do this by visiting the agent section of our Consumer Rights Request Portal. Once your agent’s authority is confirmed, they may exercise rights on your behalf subject to the agency requirements of applicable U.S. Privacy Laws. If we are unable to verify your identity, to help protect your privacy and maintain the security of your information, we will not be able to fulfill your request. If we deny your request, you may appeal the decision, in which case we will provide you with information about the appeals process.
3. Appeals
You may appeal Epson’s decision regarding a request to exercise your Consumer privacy rights by sending us an e-mail at epson.privacy@ea.epson.com and responding to any follow-up inquiries or requests we make.
h. Our Responses
Some PI that we maintain is insufficiently specific for us to be able to associate it with a Consumer (e.g., clickstream data tied only to a pseudonymous browser ID). We do not include that PI in response to Consumer requests. If we deny a request, in whole or in part, we will explain the reason in our response.
We will make commercially reasonable efforts to identify Consumer PI that we process to respond to your Consumer request(s). In some cases, particularly with voluminous and/or typically irrelevant data, we may suggest you receive the most recent or a summary of your PI and give you the opportunity to elect whether you want the rest. We reserve the right to direct you to where you may access and copy responsive PI yourself. We typically do not charge a fee to fully respond to your requests; provided, however, that we may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse to act upon a request if your request is excessive, repetitive, unfounded, or overly burdensome. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, or that we may refuse it, we will give you notice explaining why we made that decision. You will be provided a cost estimate and the opportunity to accept such fees before we charge you for responding to your request.
Consistent with applicable U.S. Privacy Laws and our interest in the security of your PI, we will not deliver to you your social security number, driver’s license number, or other government-issued ID number, financial account number, any health or medical identification number, account password, security questions or answers, in response to a Consumer privacy rights request.
3. Non-Discrimination/Non-Retaliation
We will not discriminate or retaliate against you in a manner prohibited by applicable U.S. Privacy Laws for your exercise of your Consumer privacy rights.
4. Notice of Financial Incentive Programs
We may offer discounts or other rewards (“Incentives”) from time to time to Consumers who provide us with PI, such as name, phone number, e-mail address, IP address, or location. You may opt-in to Incentives by subscribing to the applicable program or other loyalty and Incentive programs we may offer from time to time (“Program(s)”). Each Program may have additional terms, available on the Program page or at Program sign-up. If you subsequently wish to withdraw from the Programs, the method for doing so will be explained in the Program terms. We do not limit Program participation to consumers who do not exercise their CCPA rights. However, a deletion request will not delete Program PI because it is necessary to maintain your participation in the Program before making a CCPA deletion request.
5. Our Rights and the Rights of Others
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, we may collect, use, and disclose your PI as required or permitted by applicable law and this may override your rights under U.S. Privacy Laws. In addition, we are not required to honor your requests to the extent that doing so would infringe upon our or another person’s or party’s rights or conflict with applicable law.
6. Additional Notices for California Residents
In addition to the CCPA, certain Californians are entitled to certain other notices, as follows:
a. California Minors
Although our services are intended for an audience over the age of majority, any California residents under the age of eighteen (18) who have registered to use our services, and posted content on the service, can request removal by contacting us, emailing us at contentremoval@ea.epson.com with “California Under 18 Content Removal Request” in the subject line, and detailing where the content is posted and attesting you posted it. We will then make reasonable, good faith efforts to remove the post from prospective public view or anonymize it, so the minor cannot be individually identified to the extent required by applicable law. This removal process cannot ensure complete or comprehensive removal. For instance, Third Parties may have republished or archived content by search engines we do not control.
b. Shine the Light
We do not disclose “Personal Information,” as defined by California’s “Shine the Light” law, to Third Parties for such Third Parties own direct marketing purposes without consent. California residents may confirm this by contacting us at epson.privacy@ea.epson.com or Epson America, Inc., 3131 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos, CA 90720 (Attn: Privacy Coordinator). You must put the statement “Shine the Light Request” in the body of your correspondence. In your request, please attest to the fact that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for your response. This right is different than, and in addition to, CCPA rights, and must be requested separately.
