Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent color I like this printer very much. The color it prints is accurate and high quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth transition from R2000 After 4 years successfully printing on my Epson R2000 some problems began to require more constant printer head cleanings using up ink. I bought the P400 about a month ago with some concern about the transition - but it was very smooth and I've been happy with the quality of the new printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation This is replacing my Epson 1400, it has the same footprint and I was able to use the same USB cable! I can't comment on the printing because they ask for my review upon registering. And don't forget the $200 rebate!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost 5 stars I would have given it 5 stars but not having a usb cord for set-up was really a pain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst printer i ever had Terrible to figure out the right settings. Colors don't come out like the screen shows no matter what setting I have had. Wish i could return it. Artisan 1430 so much better for 1/2 the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away I have used Epson wide-format printers since 2004, starting with an R 1800 and finishing with an R 1900. The 1900 in particular was a great printer. So, I anticipated using its replacement, the Sure Color P400 to get similar results. Wrong. I bought the first P400 on December 18, 2017, but by February 8, 2018, the paper transport system had failed. Epson sent a replacement, a refurbished unit (which really irritated me), but didn't tape the box well and the printer fell out, breaking off the paper support and losing all the ancillary contents including the shipping label for returning the dead P400. Epson finally agreed to send me a NEW unit, though their next day air promise wasn't kept. The third P400 is now operational, but it still has the same flaws the first had when it was working: using essentially the same settings I used for the R1900, the prints come out muddy and poorly defined, the colors are over saturated, and the ink cartridges empty at an alarming rate. The cyan cartridge will do four 12 x 18 prints of ocean beaches, and then it's empty. As a retired photography teacher, I can't afford to print much, given the P400's thirst. If I could buy a new R1900, I would in a heartbeat. But, recommend the P400, I cannot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor color brilliance and color rendition; muddy & dark! I bought this product as a replacement for my Epson 2200. Never had any issues with the 2200. Owned it for over 12 years, but Epson stopped supporting the inks. I was told by the local dealer (Staples / Medford, OR) that the SureColor P400 was the replacement for the 2200. Not even close. When I compare prints from the 2200 next to the P400 prints (same files and papers) colors print muddy and are overall much darker. Prints from my 2200 matched my screen files. Prints from the P400 are again dark & muddy compared to the same screen files used to print on the 2200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Falling in love with my P400 I bought my P400 a month age and am very pleased. I know that is a rather high end printer and use it only for art reproduction. I live in a very dry area so I keep a humidistat next to my printer so I don't use it when the room humidity drops below 25%. Right now our outdoor humidity is 12%. I also keep it cover with a vinyl cover when not in use.

Specifications Notes:

1Ink lightfastness rating based on accelerated testing of prints on specialty media, displayed indoors, under glass. Actual print stability will vary according to media, printed image, display conditions, light intensity, humidity and atmospheric conditions. Epson does not guarantee longevity of prints. For maximum print life, display all prints under glass or lamination or properly store them. Visit www.wilhelm-research.com for the latest information.

2Print times are based upon print engine speeds only. Total throughout depends upon front-end drive/RIP, file size, printing resolution, ink coverage, network speed, etc.

3Cartridge yields vary considerably based on images printed, print settings, paper type, frequency of use and temperature. For print quality, a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridge after the "replace cartridge" indicator light comes on. The printer ships with full cartridges and part of the ink from the first cartridge is used for priming the printer.
