How do I scan a thick or large document?
-
You can use the scanner's straight path position to scan large or thick documents.
To scan a large or thick document using the scanner's straight path position, do the following:
- Make sure the straight path position icon is displayed.
Note: If the vertical path position icon is displayed, pull the position selector to the right and tilt the scanner backwards.
- Open the input tray.
- Raise the input tray extension.
- Slide the input tray edge guides all the way out.
- Do the following for your document type:
- For large documents (up to A3 11.7 x 16.7 inches), fold the original in half so that the side to be scanned is facing out.
Load the folded original into the input tray with page 1 facing up, then guide it in until it meets resistance. Adjust the edge guides to fit the edges of the original.
Note: Turn off the Detect Double Feed setting in Epson Scan 2. To combine the scanned images, you will have to specify Double-Sided as the Scanning Side setting and select Left & Right as the Stitch Images setting in Epson Scan 2.
- For booklets or passports, load with the printed side up and with the thicker edge (the side with more pages) facing first, and guide it in until it meets resistance.
Adjust the edge guides to fit the edges of the original. Support the top of the passport or booklet with your hand to prevent it from closing or falling out of the ADF.
Select Passport or Booklets as the Document Size and turn off the Detect Double Feed setting on the Main Settings tab in Epson Scan 2.
- For large documents (up to A3 11.7 x 16.7 inches), fold the original in half so that the side to be scanned is facing out.
- Select other scan settings as necessary.
- Click Scan.
- Make sure the straight path position icon is displayed.
