How do I know when an ink cartridge needs to be replaced?

• When the printer's Ink-out light flashes, an ink cartridge is low on ink. This is a good time to make sure you have a new cartridge handy. When the Ink-out light stays on, the cartridge is empty and will need to be replaced. You can click on the EPSON Status Monitor to check which cartridge is low or empty.
  
  Always leave the ink cartridges installed in the printer until you have obtained a replacement, otherwise the ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out.
