How should I load envelopes?

Loading Paper and Envelopes in the Rear Paper Feed Slot
You can load 10 sheets of paper or envelopes in the rear paper feed slot.- Raise the control panel.
- Open the front cover.
- Pull out the output tray and lower the control panel.
- Open the rear paper feed slot cover.
- Extend the rear paper feed support and then tilt it backwards.
- Slide out the edge guides.
- Do one of the following:
- Load paper with the printable side faceup at the center of the rear paper feed slot.
- Load envelopes short edge first with the flap facing down and the flap edge to the left at the center of the rear paper feed slot.
- Load paper with the printable side faceup at the center of the rear paper feed slot.
- Slide the edge guides against the paper or envelopes, but not too tightly.
- Confirm the paper size and type displayed on the LCD screen and make any changes, if necessary.
- Do not load more than the maximum number of sheets or envelopes specified for the paper type.
- Load paper short edge first, no matter which way your document faces.
- Load the printable side faceup.
- Load letterhead or pre-printed paper top edge first.
- Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.
Note: You can load a sheet of binder paper with holes on one of the long edges, but not for automatic 2-sided printing.
