How should I transport or store my product?

  • If you need to store your product or transport it a long distance, prepare it for transportation as described here.

Caution: During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines:

    • When lifting the printer, place your hands in the positions shown below. Do not hold printer at the front and back. When carrying the printer, hold it steadily to prevent injury.

    • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak. When storing or transporting the printer, place it in a plastic bag and fold it closed.

    • When storing or transporting an ink bottle after removing its seal, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely. Be sure to keep the ink bottle upright when tightening the cap, and take measures to prevent ink from leaking when transporting the ink bottles.
    • Do not put opened ink bottles in the box with the product.
    1. If the output tray is opened, select Output Tray on the Home screen to close it.
    2. Remove all the paper from the product and make sure there are no originals on the scanner glass.
    3. Close the rear paper feeder and the front cover as shown below.

    4. Turn off the product.
    5. Wait for the  power light to turn off, then unplug the power cable.

      Caution:
Do not unplug the power cable before the power light is off. Otherwise, the print head does not return to the home position and the ink can dry out, making printing impossible.

    6. Disconnect any connected cables.
    7. Lift up the scanner unit.

    8. Make sure the print head is in the home position on the right and move the transportation lock to the transport position.

      Caution:
Do not touch the translucent film inside the product; otherwise, you may damage your product.

    9. Open the ink tank cover.

    10. Make sure the ink tank caps are securely closed.

    11. Close the ink tank cover.

    12. Secure the print head to the case with tape as shown.

    13. Lower the scanner unit.

      Caution:
Be careful not to trap your hand or fingers when closing the scanner unit. Otherwise, you may be injured.

    14. Place the printer in the plastic bag supplied with your product and fold it closed.
    15. Place the product in its original packing materials, if possible, or use equivalent materials with cushioning around the product.

Keep the product level during transportation. If print quality has declined when you print again, clean and align the print head. Make sure you remove the tape securing the print head before using the printer.
