Can I print on a polyester garment?

  • Yes, you can. To print on a 50/50 poly cotton or tri-blend garment, apply the pre-treatment solution (part number C13T43R300) and print direct-to-garment (DTG). Mix 1 part pre-treatment solution to 2 parts distilled water. Pre-treatment application to a garment is required prior to printing on polyester. We recommend you use a pre-treatment machine to apply the pre-treatment solution for consistent print quality. However, we have a video to show how to quickly and easily apply pre-treatment in 3 easy steps using a spray bottle as an applicator. For instructions, see the Usage section on the Videos tab.

For 100% polyester, you can use the direct-to-film (DTFilm) transfer process. This involves printing on Digital-Transfer-Film (DTF), applying a hot melt adhesive powder to the film, and then transferring the image onto a garment with a heat press. Please see the film manufacturer’s recommendations for temperature and press times.
