How do I align the print head?

    Aligning the Print Head Automatically Using the Product Control Panel

    You can automatically align the printhead using the control panel on your product.
    1. Load roll paper or cut sheet paper in the printer.

      Note: Load paper that is at least 15.2 × 21.9 inches (388 × 558 mm) or larger.

    2. Make sure the correct paper type is selected.

      Note: If you are using commercially available paper, make sure you create the custom paper settings in advance.

    3. Select the  menu icon > Paper Setting > Roll Paper/Cut Sheet/Poster Board > Print Adjustments > Print Head Alignment.
    4. Select one of the following:
      • Uni-D Alignment: adjusts differences in the print position for each color (takes 14 to 26 minutes to complete)
      • Bi-D Alignment: adjusts differences in the print position for bi-directional printing for each color (takes 5 to 8 minutes to complete)
    5. Select Auto.
    6. Select Start.The sensor reads the adjustment pattern and automatically aligns the printhead.

      Note: Do not open the front cover or turn off the printer during the alignment process.

    7. After the alignment is complete, check the results.

    If the printhead still seems misaligned, select a different alignment method and repeat the process. If the print results are still not satisfactory, adjust the printhead position manually.

    If you cannot run an automatic printhead alignment on your paper or automatic alignment does not correct the problem, you can manually align the printhead using the control panel on your product.
    1. Load roll paper or cut sheet paper in the printer.

      Note: Load paper that is at least this size or larger: A4 (8.3 × 11.7 inches [210 × 297 mm]).

    2. Make sure the correct paper type is selected.

      Note: If you are using commercially available paper, make sure you create the custom paper settings in advance.

    3. Select the  menu icon > Paper Setting > Roll Paper/Cut Sheet/Poster Board > Print Adjustments > Print Head Alignment.
    4. Select one of the following:
      • Uni-D Alignment: adjusts differences in the print position for each color (takes 14 to 26 minutes to complete)
      • Bi-D Alignment: adjusts differences in the print position for bi-directional printing for each color (takes 5 to 8 minutes to complete)
    5. Select Manual.
    6. Select Start.

      Note: Do not open the front cover or turn off the printer during the alignment process.

    7. After each alignment pattern is printed, view the LCD screen for instructions on selecting the best result in each pattern set.
    8. After the alignment is complete, check the results.

    If the printhead still seems misaligned, repeat the process.
