    Checking the Nozzles Using the Product Control Panel

    You can check the print head nozzles using the control panel on your product.
    1. Make sure roll or cut sheet paper is loaded in the printer.
    2. Make sure the correct paper type is selected.
    3. Select the  menu icon > Maintenance > Print Head Nozzle Check.
    4. Select Start.The nozzle check pattern prints.
    5. Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

      Printhead needs cleaning


    6. Do one of the following:
      • If there are no gaps, select O to exit.
      • If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, select X to perform head cleaning.
    7. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead, check the nozzles, and repeat the process as necessary.

    You can check the print head nozzles using a utility on your Windows or Mac computer.
    1. Load roll or cut sheet paper A4-size or larger in the printer.
    2. Make sure the correct paper type is selected.
    3. Do one of the following:
      • Windows 11: On the right side of the Windows taskbar, click the up arrow, click the icon, and then click on your product.
      • Windows (other versions): Access the Windows Desktop and right-click the icon for your product in the right side of the Windows taskbar, or click the up arrow and right-click , select Properties or Printing preferences, and click on the Utility tab.
      • Mac: In the Apple menu or the Dock, select System Preferences. Select Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners, select your product, and select Options & Supplies. Select Utility and select Open Printer Utility.
    4. Click Print Head Nozzle Check.
    5. Click Print. The nozzle pattern prints.
    6. Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

    7. If there are no gaps, click Finish. If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, perform head cleaning.
