How do I run a cleaning cycle from the product's control panel?

  • You can clean the printhead using the control panel on your product.

Note: When Auto Cleaning is enabled, the nozzles are checked after head cleaning and, if clogging is detected, auto cleaning is performed.

    1. Load roll or cut sheet paper in the printer.
    2. Make sure the correct paper type is selected.
    3. Select the  menu icon > Maintenance > Print Head Cleaning.
    4. Select the nozzle arrays for cleaning and the color pairs with faint or missing segments in the nozzle check pattern
    5. Select OK to start the cleaning cycle.

Note: A typical head cleaning cycle takes about 4 to 5 minutes. The more color pairs selected, the longer it takes to perform cleaning. Depending on the status of the nozzles and the Auto Clean Max Repeat setting, this function can take up to 14 minutes.

When the cleaning cycle is finished, a confirmation screen appears.

      CAUTION:
Never turn off the product during a cleaning cycle or you may damage it.

    6. Select Yes.
    7. Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

    8. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead, check the nozzles, and repeat the process as necessary.
If you don’t see any improvement after cleaning the printhead three times, run a Power Cleaning.
