What is the High Speed setting in the Epson driver?

When High Speed is selected, the print head prints in both directions (bi-directional) to speed up printing. When High Speed is deselected or turned off, the printer prints in one direction (uni-directional) only, which produces the highest quality images, but slows down printing.
