Support Projectors PowerLite Series Epson PowerLite 1730W

Nothing projects on the screen. What should I do?

  • Try the following:
    • Press the Source Search button on the projector or the Search button or one of the Source buttons on the remote control to select the correct input source. Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up after pressing the button.
    • Check that the  Power light is green, not flashing, and the A/V mute slide (lens cover) is open.
    • Press the A/V Mute button on the remote control to see if the picture was turned off temporarily.
    • If the projector doesn't turn on, the Operation Lock function may be enabled. Press and hold the Enter button on the projector for 7 seconds to release the lock.
    • The projector may be in standby or sleep mode. If the  Power light is orange, press the  Power button to turn on the projector.
    • If you've connected a computer, it may also be in sleep mode or displaying a black screen saver. Try pressing a key on the computer.
    • If the power was switched off and then on again, wait until the  Power light stops flashing and remains orange. Then press the  Power button again.
    • Check the Video Signal or Input Signal setting in the Signal menu to make sure it is correct for the selected source. See Adjusting Signal Settings.
    • Messages may have been turned off in the Display setting of the Extended menu. See Customizing Power and Operation.
    • Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu (see Adjusting the Image) or select High for the Brightness Control setting in the Settings menu (see Customizing Projector Features).
    • If you are projecting from a DVD player or other video source, make sure you turn it on and press its Play button. Also make sure the video source is set up to output to the desired output port. Some devices need to be set up through their menu.
    • Make sure your cable(s) are connected correctly. See Connecting to Computers and Other Equipment.
    • If you've connected a laptop computer, make sure it's set to display on an external monitor.
    • If you're using a PC notebook:
      • Hold down the Fn key on the keyboard and press the function key that lets you display on an external monitor. It may have an icon such as , but it may be labelled CRT/LCD. Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up after pressing it. Check your notebook's manual or online help for details.

On most systems, the key lets you toggle between the LCD screen and the projector, or display on both at the same time.
      • Depending on your computer's video card, you might need to use the Display utility in the Control Panel to make sure that both the LCD screen and external monitor port are enabled. See your computer's documentation or online help for details.
If you're using Macintosh OS X:
      1. Make sure the projector is connected to your Macintosh.
      2. Open System Preferences.
      3. Click Display or Displays.
      4. Click Detect Displays.
      5. Make sure the VGA Display or Color LCD dialog box is selected.
      6. Click the Arrangement or Arrange tab.
      7. Make sure the Mirror Displays checkbox is selected.
