Nothing projects on the screen. What should I do?

  • Try the following:
    • Press the Source Search button on the projector or remote control to select the correct input source. Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up after pressing the button.
    • Check that the  Power light is green, not flashing, and the A/V mute slide (lens cover) is open.
    • Press the A/V Mute button on the remote control to see if the picture was turned off temporarily.
    • If the projector doesn't turn on, the Control Panel Lock function may be enabled. Press and hold the Enter button on the projector for 7 seconds to release the lock.
    • The projector may be in standby or sleep mode. If the  Power light is orange, press the  Power button to turn on the projector.
    • If you've connected a computer, it may also be in sleep mode or displaying a black screen saver. Try pressing a key on the computer.
    • If the power was switched off and then on again, wait until the  Power light stops flashing and remains orange. Then press the  Power button again.
    • If you are projecting from a composite or S-Video Source make sure the Video Signal setting is correct. See Adjusting Signal Settings.
    • Messages may have been turned off in the Display setting of the Extended menu. See Customizing Power and Operation.
    • Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu (see Adjusting the Image) or select Normal for the Power Consumption setting in the Settings menu (see Customizing Projector Features).
    • If you are projecting from a DVD player or other video source, make sure you turn it on and press its Play button.
    • Make sure your cable(s) are connected correctly. See Setting up the Projector.
    • You can also try resetting all of the menu settings. See Restoring the Default Settings.
    • If you've connected a laptop computer, make sure it's set to display on an external monitor.
    • If you're using a PC notebook:
      • Hold down the Fn key on the keyboard and press the function key that lets you display on an external monitor. It may have an icon such as , but it may be labelled CRT/LCD. Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up after pressing it. Check your notebook's manual or online help for details.

On most systems, the key lets you toggle between the LCD screen and the projector, or display on both at the same time.

If you connect the notebook while the projector or computer are already turned on, the function Fn key that changes the computer's image signal to external output may not work. Turn the computer and the projector off and then back on again.
      • Depending on your computer's video card, you might need to use the Display utility in the Control Panel to make sure that both the LCD screen and external monitor port are enabled. See your computer's documentation or online help for details.

If you're using Macintosh OS X:
      1. Make sure the projector is connected to your Macintosh.
      2. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu and click Displays.
      3. Click Detect Displays.
      4. To display the entire desktop on both your projector screen and LCD screen, click the Arrangement or Arrange tab. (If you don't see this tab, make sure it isn't hidden by another window.)
      5. Click Mirror Displays in the lower corner of the screen. One of the monitor icons automatically moves on top of the other.
