Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great scanner for the price I bought this scanner about 2 years ago and have used it heavily doing over 8,000 film scans (mostly 35mm negatives). For the price, I was extremely pleased with this product - I did need to get it replaced at almost a year, but it was under warranty (it was getting a green/red line down each scan). The refurbished one they sent me worked great for about a year and has now started to act up a little. I'm guessing I've probably have used this product more than most people would and not overly upset on this at the price point. Hence the 4 versus 5 stars. The first thing to learn is to REMOVE the panel on the top cover (it slides off) if you want to scan negatives - the instructions were not very clear on this, but I quickly figured this out. The ICE for scratch and dust works well - I still spray my film with compressed air before putting it on the flatbed. The other thing I wish they would have included in the instructions were looking for "Newton Rings" that might show up on some of the scans. At first I thought they were finger prints, but later researched it and it has something to do with the curve of some of the negatives. There are some ways to correct this - the easiest way that I found worked ok was putting the negatives in upside down in the holder (then inverting the picture using the S/W).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent scans I have thousands of slides that need to be scanned into my computer, and after some market research I chose the Epson V600 as the best performance for the price. The scanner is very versatile as to the desired quality vs. time to scan, and has some powerful software to correct picture quality before the scan is done. I have made good use of the Color Restoration for old orangy slides, backlight correction, and the ICE dust removal. I use the Home mode and Professional mode for most of my scanning. See the other product reviews for hints on how to best do the scanning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from difficult time installing I installed the scanner into my laptop the first time I used it and had a hard time using it but it finally worked for 2 days. Then I went to use it about 2 weeks later and it continuously stated it wanted an administrator password which there wasn't any, then it stated it was not connected properly which it was and then it blamed the internet for not working which it was. I then reinstalled the file which did not work so trying again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Satisfied Scanning negatives is so much more time efficient and useful for archiving images than darkroom room. The V700 is a good tool for this purpose, and a factory refurb makes it a cost-effective way to do it. My only negative comment is that there is a small amount of dust on the underside of the glass where I can't clean it. If I were scanning to make display prints, that would have to be fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this one! I love this scanner. It is so much faster than my Epson Perfection 4490 photo that I had used for a decade. The software is excellent and, if you have other Epson products connected - like I do, it's nice to have one piece of software for all devices that scan. I really like the digital ice for photos. Many scanners have color restoration software but only for slides and negatives not photos, too. This scanner also comes with a nice long cord which is handy. The scan quality is excellent - which is really what counts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unable to use Scanner button on the scanner The product scans fine for my purposes. However, I have not been able to use the "Scan" button on the scanner to scan. I keep getting a message that the scanner cannot communicate with the computer. I have to use the "Epson Scan" program icon from the start menu. This is very inconvenient. I tried all of the fixes suggested by Epson to resolve this with no luck. I submitted a case to Epson support a month ago, but have had no response in spite of their message saying they would respond within 24 hours. I had seen this as an issue in earlier reviews about the product, but thought having a current operating system would preclude the issue. Not so. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson V600 Scanner I bought this because of the old family negatives I want to see. I am looking forward to getting started. Have always liked other Epson products I have owned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY Poor Site I want to see the reviews rated 3 and below, but the web site wouldn't let me see those reviews. Based on that I will not bother to purchase this scanner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brilliant Scanner I bought this scanner about a month ago. Since then I have been scanning 35mm slides and negs, 2.25 transparencies and negs 4-6 hours every day. (Retirement is grand!). The scanner has performed flawlessly, producing beautiful digital files every time. I have not used the digital Ice feature nor the auto color adjustments, so I can't speak to them. I found the sharpening feature to be over sharpened on the pre-set "Manual" setting, but have lovely results on the "Low" setting. I was a professional photographer for 30+ years with images in multiple stock photo agencies, so I have a collection of images to scan that's going to take me some considerable length of time (don't worry . . . I don't plan to scan them all). If this scanner continues to perform as well as it has so far, I will be very happy. Actually, if it doesn't last through 30,000 scans, I would probably buy another one just like it. At this price point, it would absolutely be worth it. My only complaint and the reason for not giving 5 stars, is that the instructions are so poor. The "owner's manual/ instructions" is so convoluted and difficult to follow that it's worthless to all intents and purposes. If it weren't for U-Tube videos, I think I would still be figuring out how to use this scanner.
